Tiger Care

School-Based Health Center

Our goal is simple: improve access to healthcare while reducing time out of school. By offering medical care directly at school, students can receive diagnosis and treatment quicker, so they can return to the classroom sooner. This initiative brings healthcare to where students are, minimizing disruptions to both learning and daily routines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a free service?

No. Families will be asked for health insurance information. If a family does not have insurance, our health office staff will assist in finding coverage. No child will be turned away due to lack of insurance.

Is parent consent required?

Yes. Parents will always be notified if their child is referred for a virtual health appointment. Parents can sign consent forms at back-to-school open houses or through the school health office at any time.

What forms are required?

Registration and Consent forms will be managed by Advocate Urgent Care. There are multiple registration options for a telehealth visit.

Is this a full-service clinic?

No. We offer limited tests and diagnostics. Students needing specialized care will be referred to their primary care physician or connected to our partners at Advocate Urgent Care or MHealth-Fairview.

Will medications be available?

If medication is needed, providers will issue a prescription to the family’s pharmacy.

Are appointments private?

Yes. Telehealth appointments occur in a private room in or near the school health office. School health office staff will assist with telehealth appointments to help with basic diagnostic testing.

Can parents attend the appointment too?

Yes! We encourage parents to participate in this process via the link or come onsite and be with their child if they prefer. If a parent cannot attend, the healthcare provider will discuss the plan of care with the parent via phone after the appointment.
